| How Tough is it to Get Accepted to a Golf College? |
| For many professionals working in their degree field today, the concept of attending golf college is as remote to them as the idea they might have made their university or college golf team when they were in school. It should be made clear, however, that these are two very different concepts.
College golf usually refers to the athletic team that a college or university supports for competition with other schools. Take for instance the NCAA. Most major schools sport a college golf team which travels to competitions with one or more other teams. Obviously, to be involved on these teams, you would need to be a registered student that was able to make the team.
Attending a golf college, on the other hand, is all about going back to school and working towards an education that will permit you to work in the exciting and lucrative golf business. Golf academies exist throughout the country. In fact, some of the cutting edge schools even offer online courses that will educate and train you in the industry right from your own home computer.
Because of the previously stated misconceptions regarding golf colleges, many interested individuals often think there are rigorous standards in place for admission to golf school. Mostly, this too is a myth. While the leading golf academies do indeed want to have smart, motivated students in attendance, they realize that to overly complicate the admissions process would likely keep many qualified applicants from attending.
Look for a school that will make the admissions process easy and comfortable. They do exist and usually have been developed from the top down with a culture of passion for the game and business of golf. This is where you want to a golf education, not from a golf college that simply wants your money.
If you look into attending a school and find that the admissions counselors are unavailable to answer your questions or are anything less than willing to guide you through the application process, take your interest elsewhere. Know that there are institutions which make it policy to provide you with caring and compassionate professionals to help with every step of the process.
Most quality golf colleges will have a well thought out online presence. You will want to be able to go to their website at any time, day or night, and get information at your convenience. The last thing you want to do is have to wait for office hours to be in place in order to get the information you need to make life changing decisions.
Being able to download applications and other information is also something that you'll want to look for in a golf college. Don't wait for something to be mailed to you via the postal service. In today's age of instant electronics communications, there is absolutely no reason why you should have to wait for data that can be easily digitized and delivered to you via a web site or email.
Finally, the admissions process for most of the leading golf colleges normally doesn't take much longer than a couple of business days. From the time you submit a completed application which may include transcripts and test scores, the very best schools have staff in place to assess your final application.
If you find that you're waiting much longer than just a few days to learn whether or not you'll be accepted, perhaps you'll want to consider some other golf college. If they are going to take that long to mull over your admission application how long will they take with other administrative aspects when you attend their school? |
