A Look at Pro Golf Careers
Whenever you hear the term “pro golf careers,” you probably instantly think of being on the PGA tour trying to win tournaments. But in today’s multi-billion dollar golf industry, this is far from the only career option. In fact, many of those who work professionally in the golf industry don’t actually golf for a living. Marketers, entrepreneurs, designers, salesman, and others have found their own place within this growing industry.

Simply put, there’s plenty of room in the golf industry for those with business skills. Whether you’re interested in starting your own driving range or you want to help promote the sport to youth, there are pro golf careers that can put your skills to work for the good of the game.

Of course, the golf courses themselves are highly advanced in their design and layout. To keep them in pristine condition, specially trained maintenance crews are employed at golf courses throughout the country. Golf course maintenance is yet another example of a growing career in the pro golf industry.

As a growing number of people have become interested in learning the sport of golf, equipment sales have risen significantly. In the past, you used to have to go to a major sporting goods store to find golf equipment. Now, golf specialty stores can be found in virtually every town and city throughout the country. As a result, there’s a high demand for golf equipment salesmen and store managers.

Perhaps the most popular of the pro golf careers is teaching. Golf instructors can make successful careers for themselves by helping new and experienced golfers alike improve their games. The best part about being a golf instructor is you get to spend your work day out on the golf course that you love.

Do you like to write? What about taking photos? There are careers for this too in the golf industry. Members of the golf media range from TV reporters and newspaper columnists to photographers and videographers. Simply put, if you have a skill, it can probably be used in a pro golf career.

With all of the pro golf careers available, it’s clear how profitable it can be to enter this field. However, it’s important to note that all golf careers, from golf facilities management to equipment sales, require an intimate knowledge of the sport. See, it’s not enough to have the basic business skills; you have to receive the specialized training that’s specific to the golf industry. Knowledgeable golf professionals are in higher demand than ever before.

That’s why golf academies have become so popular. Think of a golf academy as college for anyone looking to start their own pro golf career. At golf schools, students can pursue a wide range of careers, including: golf teacher, equipment sales, facilities management, driving range owner, golf cart manufacturing/sales, golf course designer, golf facility financial consultant, golf media, photography, and so much more. The options really are endless.

When choosing a golf academy, make sure the school offers training in the field you’re interested in. Be sure the school is certified and accredited. You also want to attend a golf academy that offers career placement assistance so that you can land a great job as soon as you complete training.

You don’t have to be Tiger Woods to enjoy a career in golf. No matter what skill set you have to offer, there are plenty of pro golf careers you can enjoy.
